Our team

Mind the Gap Communications Consulting, Inc. (or Mind the Gap, or MTG)—is a Philippines-based consulting firm formed by five communication professionals with rich, diverse, and extensive experiences in stakeholder engagement, media monitoring, development communication, and content development to provide services that support good causes.


Gigi Caballero has more than 28 years of experience in operations (including financial operations), project and publications management, and events management and support in an international development organization. She currently supports Philippine government efforts to reform the tax system to improve public services particularly on health, and create incentives for small businesses. 

Leah Barona-Cruz
has been doing communication work and stakeholder engagement for more than two decades, including eight years in an international research center where she was senior editor and content development lead. She is good at capturing big pictures and bottom lines, synthesizing information for reporting as well as for telling stories. She is also a resource on stakeholder mapping and strategic communication. After working in communication for rice research and agriculture, she continues to provide communication support for good causes: to ban smoking in public places, increase the tobacco tax, tax e-cigarettes and vape, and promote the use of child car seats.  

Liz Barona-Edra
has more than 15 years of experience in the public and development sectors. These years saw her assimilate varied technical information and data points and transform them into exciting forms of knowledge and stories that help advance the mission of her organizations. Liz is a communications strategist and a writer who holds a masters degree in development communication from the University of the Philippines Los Banos and has worked for many years with global and regional organizations like the International Rice Research Institute, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, and the Asian Development Bank.

Bernadette Pamplona-Joven has more than two decades of experience as a communication specialist, writer, and editor in the development sector. Her extensive expertise lies in communicating complex topics, including climate change, natural resource management, biodiversity conservation, rural development, and other developmental issues, to diverse audiences in various content formats. She is also highly skilled in creating communication strategies for development initiatives.
 
Elemarie Lamigo-Rosellon has more than 14 years of experience as a development communication practitioner. Five of these years were dedicated to serving at IRRI, first as an internal communication consultant, corporate communication lead, and then as a media coordinator. In these roles, she organized campaigns and helped IRRI’s internal stakeholders prepare for crisis communication situations.
